Home-made Pumpkin Pie Spice

It is that time of year again when pumpkin pies abound. This is a traditional pumpkin-pie/muffin spice mixture with slight variations allowing for spice taste preferences. For a lighter hint of mix, use the first amounts, and for a more spicier version, use the second amounts listed. For best results, use freshly ground spices. Traditional Pumpkin Spice Blend

1 to 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon

½ to 1 tsp ground ginger

¼ to ½ tsp ground nuntmeg

¼ to ½ tsp ground cloves

Combine the above spices and add to your favourite pumpkin pie mix, or muffin mix for a delightful flavour treat.

Cinnamon and ginger are soothing, warming, and comforting when used in cooking. Cinnamon is also an all natural anti-inflamatory and antibiotic.
