As our family pet gets older and especially if they are spayed or neutered, they tend to take on extra weight. Besides enticing your feline to exercise more (maybe with some catnip toys, or catnip treats and cookies—recipes also available in, this healthy Weight Loss Cat Food is an ideal start towards maintaining a healthy weight. And again, you know your pet is eating fresh food devoid of chemical preservatives contained in store bought pet foods. With the addition of calcium carbonate in this recipe, an excellent and safe dietary supplement high in calcium, you are assured of yielding approximately 1½ pounds of a healthy homemade Weight Loss Cat Food.

Ingredients: 1¼ c cooked white rice

1½ lbs of beef or pork liver

1 tsp corn oil

1 tsp calcium carbonate (available at drug or health food store)

1 balanced mineral/vitamin supplement (from your pet food store)

  1. Boil your chosen liver until tender and cooked through.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine all the ingredients together, mixing well.
  3. Divide into serving size portions, cover and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
  4. To serve: Gently heat one serving sized portion and serve warm (NOT hot)
