This recipe will yield approximately one cup for your hummingbird feeder, and any unused Easy All-Natural Homemade Hummingbird Nectar should be replaced biweekly.
Ingredients ¼ c white sugar
¾ c water
6 drops red food colouring
- To make this simple Hummingbird Nectar, boil the water in a small saucepan.
- When the water boils, stir in the sugar until dissolved. Then continue cooking on a high heat for approximately 5 minutes, stirring to prevent the sugar syrup from burning.
- Remove your Easy All-Natural Homemade Hummingbird Nectar from the heat, and stir in the food colouring.
- Allow to cool completely; then fill your hummingbird feeder with this tasty hummingbird treat.
Note: Once the hummingbirds become a regular visitor to your feeder, gradually decrease the food colouring until it is no longer needed to attract them.
