With the coming maple bush running, make sure that you make plenty of this Maple Syrup Liqueur to last the whole year! It is delicious as a dessert, poured over fresh homemade vanilla ice cream or maple walnut cake, or served as a refreshingly different liqueur or an aperitif poured over crushed ice. This recipe makes 12 ounces, but can easily be doubled or tripled. Truly a Canadian liqueur. Ingredients: 4 oz pure maple syrup (the darker the richer the flavour)
8 oz good quality rye whiskey
- Combine the syrup and whiskey in a sterilized jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake for 2 minutes.
- Allow this delicious Maple Syrup Liqueur mixture to mellow for 2 ½ to 3 weeks, making sure to shake your homemade brew daily for 1 minute.
- Truly delicious on it’s own, or as a dessert sauce. Enjoy!
