Effective Homemade Herbal Face Packs and Masks

Herbal Face Pack—Spread this soothing face pack over your skin, taking care to avoid the area around your eyes and mouth. For an added refreshing treat, place a slice of cucumber over each eye and rest for 10 minutes. Remove the cucumber slices from your eyes, and wash off the face pack with warm water, or an herbal infusion of your choice.

2 T plain yogurt

2 T finely chopped herb leaves or flowers, selected according to skin type

1-2 T fine oatmeal

1. Stir the yogurt and herbs together until they are well blended.

2. Stir in just enough oatmeal to form a soft paste and mix well.

If you need to store any excess of this paste, spoon it into a jar, cover, and label. Then store it in the refrigerator.

Chamomile and Honey Mask—Although this mask makes you look a little strange while it is on your face, it smooths and softens skin beautifully. If you do not have chamomile flowers in your garden, they are usually easy to obtain from a health food shop as they are often used for making chamomile tea.

1 T dried chamomile flowers

¾ cup boiling water

2 T bran 1 tsp clear honey, warmed

  1. Pour the boiling water over the chamomile flowers and allow them to stand for 30 minutes. Then strain this infusion and discard the chamomile flowers.
  2. Mix 3 T of this liquid with the bran and honey. Then rub this mixture all over your face. (It may b e a little stiff at first but will smooth out over the skin). Leave the mixture on your skin for at least 10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.
