Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipe for pets with Heart Disease

When our beloved pet is diagnosed with heart disease, a special diet is always recommended. This healthy homemade dog food recipe should meet with your vet’s approval and benefit your family pet. The number of portions this recipe yields will depend upon the size of your dog. It is best stored in the fridge, for no more than a week. Ingredients: 8 oz fresh lean beef

2 c cooked and cooled white rice

1½ c corn oil

1 balanced vitamin/mineral supplement

*dicalcium phosphate (bonemeal) available at health food stores

  1. Boil, then slice the cooked beef into small pieces
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cooled cooked beef together with the cooked rice; adding in the corn oil and vitamin/mineral supplement, blending all together well.
  3. Either divide your Healthy Homemade Dog Food into individual portions in sealed containers, or cover the bowl and refrigerate the food between servings.
  4. To Serve: Remove one serving size portion, heat the food until warm (not hot), then sprinkle 1 tsp of dicalcium phosphate over this daily portion of food, if you use this recipe as a regular diet.
  5. NOTE: Dicalcium Phosphate is high in calcium and phosphate and is a recommended ingredient to be included as a mineral supplement in a healthy homemade dog food diet. Please consult with your veterinarian to determine the correct quantity for your family pet.
