Effective Massage Oil for Pet Arthritis

Certain breeds of dogs are more prone to developing Arthritis, but it is just as painful and debilitating for any of our pets as it is for their masters. Therefore, exercise caution and care when administering to an arthritic pet and check with your veterinarian. As for any two or four-legged animal, we all love a good massage, and will both enjoy and benefit from a gentle herbal massage.
Method: 1. Combine together 4 drops of Rosemary oil, 2 drops Lavender oil, 3 drops ginger oil (or 1 drop fresh juice), into a base of 2 tablespoons of a good quality vegetable oil.
2. Mix together thoroughly.
3. Pour a little onto your palms, warm it slightly by rubbing your hands together.
4. Then gently massage your pet’s arthritic joints by working the oil onto the skin through his fur. This will be messy, but there is no need for concern, as your pet will lick himself clean as soon as you stop the massage.
5. Massage your pet for a few minutes, allowing enough of the beneficial herbal oils to penetrate his skin and soothe the affected tissue and bones.
FYI Notes: Rosemary is a known muscular and nerve pain reliever, treating eczema and fights infections from small wounds, minor cuts or burns. Lavender is a comforting, relaxing and soothing scent that also has healing properties in treating burns and minor wounds. Ginger is known for its antiseptic properties while being warming and soothing both internally and on the skin.
