Sweet-smelling Herbal Moth Repellent Bags–2

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

The strong scents of southernwood, lavender, and rosemary are popular herbs that effectively keep moths at bay protecting your precious woolens. These herbal insect repellents are infinitely preferable to mothballs and just as efficient. Besides the two other Herbal Moth Bags recipes found in the betweenclosefriends.com blog, this is another effective herbal moth repellant bag to make which is sweet-smelling and pleasing to our noses. The orris powder provides a delicate violet scent which intensifies as this mixture matures.

6 T dried southernwood leaves

2 T dried chamomile flowers

2 T dried and crumbled rosemary leaves

1 T crumbled dried bay leaves

2 crushed cinnamon sticks

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ores root powder

1 T table salt

  1. Mix all the above ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Place the resulting mixture into an airtight jar or other container, and leave for two weeks, shaking the container every day or two to thoroughly mix and infuse the scents.
  3. Place the matured mixture into sachets or small muslin pillows, securing the tops with a rubber band or a length of ribbon.
  4. Place these sachets in your closets and drawers to gently scent your clothes and deter moths from feeding.
