Along with homemade ‘Baileys’ (recipe given in this blog, too),this version of a homemade ‘Kahlua’ cannot be beat! Traditionally, these two blends have always been made up around the holidays, but sometimes we make them throughout the year too! Especially for our Valentine…….And with everyone looking to save a few dollars, these recipes are again gaining popularity. Keep your empty store-bought Kahlua bottles, and put your homebrew in them. To make this easy KAHLUA, which will yield approximately 2 2/3 of 26 oz bottles, you will need:
4 c water
4 c sugar
¼ c instant coffee
¼ c vanilla
26 oz vodka
- Bring the water and the sugar to a boil in a large saucepan.
- Slowly stir in the instant coffee, which has been predissolved in a little water.
- Boil this mixture for another 5 minutes. Then remove from heat, and let it cool completely.
- When cold, add the vanilla and the vodka. Stir together, bottle, then enjoy!
