What more can you want in such an aromatic after shave lotion than it to also be soothing, stimulating, styptic, and to act as an astringent? Well, this one does double duty!!! When the day has worn on, and you are ‘dog tired’, use this wonderfully fragrant herbal essence as an alcohol rub to relax and refresh! The eucalyptus called for in this recipe for your Stimulating Wake-up After Shave Lotion will add a delightful mentholated scent, whereas the mint will either enhance or add a crisp and refreshing fragrance.

Ingredients: 3 parts sage leaves

1 part fresh organic yarrow flowers

1 part fresh or dried organic lavender flowers

1 part eucalyptus leaves or fresh organic peppermint leaves.

Rubbing alcohol

1. In a large lidded jar, ½ way fill it with the sage leaves, yarrow and lavender flowers. Either add the eucalyptus leaves or peppermint leaves.

2. Fill the jar to the top with your choice of either rubbing alcohol or grain alcohol for the styptic quality.

3. Securely lid the jar, and store it for 2 weeks; shaking it twice daily (once in the morning, and once at night).

4. At the end of the 2 weeks, strain and discard the herbs. (They make a wonderful compost).

5. To the resulting liquid, add enough purified water to dilute your Stimulating Wake-up After Shave Lotion to your desired strength.

Enjoy this refreshing and healthy after shave lotion/alcohol rub whenever the mood strikes!

Variation for dry skin: In step 5, before adding the water, add 1 or 2 Tablespoons of glycerine or almond oil to the liquid mixture to make it more moisturizing.
