Refreshing Herbal Gels for Your Bath

Floral Bath Gels—These are made with fresh or dried flowers such as lavender, thyme, and chamomile ground to a paste or powder. 3 T fresh or dried flowers, your choice, picked from the stalks

½ cup water

12 T grated castile soap

3-4 drops oil of lavender or thyme (optional)

  1. Pound the selected flowers with a pestle and mortar until they form a paste or powder. Place the water into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Beat in the grated soap until it has dissolved, then remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in your flowers and, if you wish, the fragrant oil of choicel.
  2. Leave the resulting mixture to cool undisturbed. Then pour the liquid into bottles. Cover, label and store in the refrigerator. Use as a soft soap.
