Do you need to reduce your salt intake? This herbal salt-substitute recipe is wonderful, and will meet all the salt cravings you may have. Keep it in small shaker bottle on the table next to your pepper, and use it as you would the salt shaker. Ingredients:
1 tsp dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp white peppercorns
2 T dried onion flakes
1 T garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1 T dry mustard seeds
1 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp celery seed
1/4 tsp dried rosemary leaves
Blend the above ingredients together in a small coffee-grinder used exclusively for herbs until fine and of the consistency that you want. Pour into an empty shaker bottle along with a few grains of raw rice to prevent clumping. Yield approximately 1/3 cup of your salt-substitute mix.
