1. Combine the above ingredients in a heavy skillet, on medium heat.
2. Slowly dissolve the sugar, stirring constantly.
3. Boil steadily for 15 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid burning or scorching toffee.
4. Pour your cooked and HOT toffee onto a buttered cookie sheet, carefully.
5. Cool, then cut into pieces.
Variation: When cooled, before cutting, spread a thin layer of melted milk chocolate over the toffee. Sprinkle with sliced almonds. Allow to cool, then break into pieces. Decadent!
