A Simple and Spectacular Appetizer–Stuffed Nasturtiums

How to make Stuffed Nasturtiums

There is nothing prettier or tastier than these brilliantly coloured flowers stuffed with this tantalizing blend and served on a silver platter as appetizers when entertaining at home. Your guests will be surprised by your floral expertise and rewarded with this mouth-watering palate-pleasing treat! If you choose to also include your homemade cream cheese, you will be dubbed ‘chef exordinaire’! Your stuffed nasturtiums will definitely be the topic of many a future conversation, while providing an excellent ice-breaking topic for your current guests.

8 oz package cream cheese (either use store bought, or homemade–recipe provided in betweenclosefriends.com blog, along with other homemade recipes, and ideas for herbs)

3T mayonnaise

¼ cup chopped nuts

¼ cup grated carrots

1 T finely minced green pepper

2 tsp fresh herbs such as basil, parsley, or dill or 2 T chives, cucumber, and/or green onion, minced

1 ½ dozen brilliant nasturtium blossoms, washed Chopped chives and/or edible blossoms of your choice

  1. Soften the cream cheese with the mayonnaise. (You can use either store-bought or homemade cream cheese found under the ‘Recipe’ category of betweenclosefriends.com)
  2. Add the remaining ingredients, except the nasturtiums and chopped chives or edible blossoms.
  3. Roll this mixture into balls, and delicately fit the balls into your nasturtium flowers.
  4. Top each with a piece of chopped chives or any edible blossom.
  5. Ring a platter with round, bright green nasturtium leaves. Or serve as individual salad garnishes, each stuffed nasturtium flower set decoratively on a leaf or two.
